Molten Store are the purveyors of all that is peculiar and beautiful. The Brisbane based online boutique is procuring quite a following for its unique jewelry and curious gifts, so you can imagine the excitement when it was announced that Molten Store were to open a pop up shop in the oh-so-chic James Street. Come rain, hail or shine (of which we had all three) I was determined to visit this sartorial mecca. Set in an industrial cement space, the design genius of Archer & Archer created the environment in which Molten would display their wares IRL (In Real Life, people). Owner, Jessy Cameron, a fixture in the Brisbane fashion scene herself, curated a collection of intricately beaded, tasseled and woven pieces from Isabel Badin, the inimitable neon ropes of Knots & Knits, tribal statements of in-house label Molten Relic and precious pieces that Jessy finds in her travels to far off places. Jewelry was strewn amongst rocks, trinkets & mirrors, earrings & necklaces hung from vintage bottles and apothecary vases and bags from drift wood. Bohemia flirted with edgy vintage in a space that inspired thoughts of wanderlust and luxury. While online shopping provides convenience, especially when ‘super storms’ are about, the retail experience of a store as charming as this is unparalleled. I walked away with a silver bracelet of bells, a neon pink tassel necklace stringed with natural, pink shells and a feeling of rapture. If you are lucky enough to be in Brisbane, the Molten Store Pop Up Shoppe is open until 30 November, otherwise all the beauty and more is available online.
